Whether it’s seams, a structured dress, or using colors strategically, vertical lines draw the eye up and down, creating height. This is perfect for petites or anyone wanting to add some extra length to their figure.

Pro Tip: Try wearing the same color pants and top and using a different color longer jacket or long cardigan for an extra elongating and slimming effect as the color of the pants and top make a long vertical line.

A note about diagonal lines: The more vertical a diagonal line is, the more it works in the same way as a vertical line, lengthening your figure.

Left is a lot more lengthening than the almost horizontal line on the right, but still better than a totally horizontal line.
